BACKGROUND City Nations has evolved into a fiercely independent all round publishing venture via efforts of a web design studio called Objekt Media which was founded at the tail end of the dot com boom by a group of graphic designers and web developers of a variety of ethnic backgrounds. City Nations as we define it today however was launched as an Australian small business enterprise in January 2003 and is now dedicated solely to providing marketing and promotions environment for other small businesses trading in culturally specific goods and services in key metropolitan centers around the world. AIMS The aim of the City Nations venture is to employ electronic and print media to portray the wealth of consumer resources. We aspire to institute a mainstream cross-cultural exchange portal for people who carry a transnational identity acquired through the practices of their multilingual and multicultural lifestyles. City Nations aims to become an exporter of the best Australian social philosophymulticulturalismand the forerunner of cross-cultural integration for all migrants internationally. AUDIENCE As any publisher of directories, guidebooks and other promotional material we have two audiences. 1/ Our primary audience is the consumer of the information we provide, which means that our publications are designed to appeal to and entice an upwardly mobile and socially aware consumer of culturally specific products and services. This person is armed with high level of English language proficiency, education, middle to high range of disposable income and a social awareness. They are in the process of nesting and establishing their social identity either as home leavers, young families or new migrants. They have strong cross-cultural social ties through intermarriage, travel experiences or family. 2/ Our secondary audience is the first client we call upon however. The product we offer our media buyer is equally unique, culturally specific and of exceptional value as the environment our reader encounters it in. Like many of our multinational and high-end competitors we aim to deliver a high quality one-stop-shop for marketing of all forms of businesses from importers, manufacturers, service providers, shopkeepers, individuals and social organizations alike. From the comprehensive website solution to a simple directory listing, City Nations aims to be a reliable way of bridging the local businesses communities and the vast cosmopolitan market place.
